Pallpalayam Chicken Fry is a famous dish from the region of Erode. This is a dry fry that can be had along with rice or roti. This contains very few ingredients and yet tastes awesome. Most of the Kongu belt is arid in nature and food especially meat was scarce and reserved only for special occasions.
Instructions to make Mutton Pallipalayam:
- Wash and clean the Mutton pieces.
- In a pressure cooker, add oil. Once oil gets heat, add mustard seeds. Fry it.
- Add shallots, curry leaves and red chillies. Saute till shallots becomes translucent.
- Add ginger garlic paste and saute for 2 mins.
- Add Mutton pieces, turmeric powder and salt. Saute till the Mutton loses out water and the water gets dried out.
- Add required water. Cover and cook for 10 whistles.
- Once the pressure goes off. Open the lid and dry out excess water. Atlast add coconut pieces and fry for 2 mins.
- Transfer to a bowl and serve hot. Serve as a Sidedish for any of your lunch.
