- Take 3/4 cup Milk
- Get 1 tsp Tea powder
- Take 1/2 tsp Roasted fennel powder
- Take 1/2 inch Grated ginger
- Take 2 Crushed Black pepper powder
- Prepare 1 medium piece or 4 tbsp Crushed jaggery
Add bay leaf, crushed ginger, cardamom powder, gur (jaggery)and tea leaves to it. Boil until you get the aroma of the tea, stir in between with a spoon. Crush cardamom along with pepper to a coarse mixture,set aside. Add tea powder to it, then add crushed mixture.
Instructions to make Gur Wali Chai – Tea With Jaggery – Healthy Winter Beverages – No Sugar Tea:
- Heat water in a saucepan and allow it to boil. - Add tea powder, roasted fennel powder, crushed black pepper with ginger. Boil it for 2-3 minutes. - Now add milk and simmer for 3 minutes. Switch off the flame.
- Add crushed jaggery and mix well. Filter prepared chai into cups. - Gur wali chai is ready to serve.
- Tips: - - Adjust jaggery according to your taste. - Don’t add jaggery while boiling otherwise chai or tea may curdle. The acidity in the jaggery will curdle chai.
Boil for a minute, let it come to a rolling boil. Swirl the pan and simmer for a minute. The word chai just means tea. Jaggery chai, on the other hand, is a hot beverage consumed during winters. Chai = tea. i.e "Gud ki Chai".
